Jenergizer Bunny #82
Q: How did you first become involved in roller derby? A: A friend asked me to try out for roller derby with her. She knew all about the sport and I knew nothing but I wanted to support her so I tried out with her just for fun. I fell in love with it right away. She quit a week later because she was afraid she was going to break a bone. But I stuck with it and here I am with all my bones still never broken.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the Chicago Outfit? A: When I transferred to the Chicago Outfit from Sacred City Derby girls last season I wasn't sure what to expect or if that was where I belonged. When I saw all the smaller jammers kicking butt such as Lola Blow, Queefer Sutherland, Shebiscuit and Loka-In-Motion, I got really excited. I hadn't seen many smaller roller derby girls like myself kicking butt. After watching them I knew that I could learn a lot from the Chicago Outfit and that I belonged there.
Q: Is there anyone you would like to "Thank" for your total derby domination? A: I would like to thank all the coaches I've had in the last years. Shadow Soldier was my very first derby coach and to this day I still hear her in my head as I go around the apex "Get LOWER BUNNY."
Q: What advice do you have for aspiring derby gals? A: Invest in knee gaskets.
Q: What do you do when you are not playing roller derby? A: I am a flight attendant for American Airlines. So when I'm not playing roller derby I am usually on a plane for work or traveling around the world for fun.
Q: How has being part of a team impacted your life on and off the track? A: The Chicago Outfit has become my 2nd family. I had the courage to move to another state that I had never been to before because I knew I had a team of 60 girls waiting to have me be a part of their team and family.
Q: Most embarrassing moment on skates? A: I once took a whip off someone and accidentally pulled down her pants mooning the whole crowd. I guess that wasn't my most embarrassing moment but I was embarrassed for her.
Q: Best after party moment? A: Best after party moment was when me and my derby wife "The Big Lebekski" had a mock wedding reception at the after party because she couldn't wait until RollerCon. Ivanna Schoop was my maid of honor, Smashley Destructo walked me down the aisle, Shebiscuit married us and Rude E. Huxtable was the videographer. Still waiting to see the video, Rude E.
Q: Signature move? A: Grabbing teammates clothes to take a whip to where their uniforms stretch out or rip, but I usually get points for doing it.
Q: Derby crush? A: When I grow up I want to be Bonnie Thunders.
Q: Pre-bout rituals? A: Before a bout I try to chug a liter of water.
Q: Post-bout rituals? A: After a bout I chug Shirley Temples.
Q: Fun Fact? A: Great things come in small packages.
Q: Significance of derby name/number? A: My roller Derby name is Jenergizer Bunny. I finally can live up to my name because I keep going and going when I skate. But when I first started playing that was not the case. I fell a lot and got knocked down a lot. So back then I got my name because I kept getting up. I kept coming back for more no matter how much I got beat up. I kept going and going.
