CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby, an all-travel member league of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), play a double-header home bout vs. The Ohio Roller Girls Saturday, July 20, 2013.

Doors open at 6:00pm at the Windy City Fieldhouse (2367 W. Logan Boulevard) in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood. The evening gets rolling at 7:00pm when the Outfit’s Shade Brigade takes on the Ohio Roller Girls Gang Green, and the action continues with the Outfit’s Syndicate vs. the Ohio Roller Girls All Stars.

Tickets can be purchased for $15 online at or at the door for $20.Partial proceeds from the event will benefit Girls Rock! Chicago, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering girls’ creative expression, positive self-esteem and community awareness through rock music.  Girls Rock! Chicago is committed to educating girls from age 8 to 16 about the musical, technical, and creative aspects involved in musicianship, believing young girls are rarely encouraged to explore self-expressive creative outlets and are less likely to be given access to musical and technical instruction or equipment.  Girls Rock! Chicago believes that rock music can be a crucial tool in allowing young women to respond to preconceived notions of what they can do and what they can become.

The Chicago Outfit’s official “little sister” league, the Chicago Riots Youth Roller Derby team, will play during the halftime. Coached and mentored by members of The Outfit, the Chicago Riots were founded in fall of 2009 and are open to girls ages 12-18.

People of all ages will enjoy the fun, free, and interactive “Fan Zone,” featuring the Outfit’s Coloring & Activity Book, hand-designed by the Chicago Outfit skaters, games and prizes, temporary tattoos, face painting and more. Friends and fans can strike a pose in the free photo booth, compliments of 9 Muses Photo. Beer from the Chicago Outfit’s new sponsor, Revolution Brewery, and wine, courtesy of Derby LITE, will be available for purchase. Popular food trucks, including Taquero Fusion, The Vegan Food Truck, and BabyCakes, will be on site, as will merchandise from the following vendors: Safara Chicago, Funky Egg Art, Pretty Spooky, AnniegoDIY, LuDesigns and Drawn with Fire.

Founded in the fall of 2007, The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby is an all-female, Division One, Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member league in the city of Chicago. As a democratic, not-for-profit organization, run by the skaters for the skaters, The Chicago Outfit is dedicated to creating a positive female community while contributing charitably to other nonprofit organizations. As a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, The Chicago Outfit’s mission is to represent the athleticism of roller derby nationwide with class, sass, and dignity.

The Chicago Outfit is comprised of three separate travel teams. The Syndicate is the Chicago Outfit’s top-tier team, and represents the league in WFTDA-sanctioned bouts and rankings. The Shade Brigade competes against lower-tier travel teams of other WFTDA leagues, as well as against newer and smaller non-WFTDA teams. The Shakedown is The Outfit’s entry-level team and represents the influx of new skaters currently training and competing with The Outfit.
