Home Bout to Benefit the Broadway Youth Center
CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby, member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), takes the track for their third home bout of the season on Saturday, June 15th, 2013.
Doors open at 6:00pm at the Windy City Fieldhouse (2367 W. Logan Boulevard) in Chicago. The double-header kicks off with The Outfit’s Shade Brigade vs. the McLean County MissFits at 7:00pm, and the excitement keeps rolling with The Outfit’s Syndicate vs. the Blue Ridge Rollergirls.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.chicagooutfitrollerderby.com. Partial proceeds will support the Broadway Youth Center, a program of Howard Brown Health center and their community partners. Since 2004, the Broadway Youth Center has provided comprehensive health and wellness care and social service programs to youth, ages 12-24, including a safe space for young people experiencing homelessness. Through its basic needs program, the BYC offers homeless youth a safe place to access basic needs, such as food, hygiene supplies, clothing, laundry, and showers. In addition to drop-in services, youth are also able to access a full range of free services and programs ranging from HIV/STI testing and treatment, acute health care services, GED classes, case management, counseling services and social and support groups. The Broadway Youth Center serves nearly 4,000 youth annually. The Chicago Outfit will offer reduced admission prices at the door to those who bring supplies needed by the BYC. The BYC is currently in need of socks, underwear, deodorant, razors, and travel-sized shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shaving cream, and all sizes/all gender socks and underwear. Donations must be new and unused.
The Chicago Outfit's official “little sister” league, the Chicago Riots Youth Roller Derby team, will play during the first halftime. Coached and mentored by members of The Outfit, the Chicago Riots were founded in fall of 2009 and are open to girls ages 12-18. The second halftime entertainment will be provided by Cirques Experience Wheel Jam.
People of all ages will enjoy the fun, free, and interactive “Fan Zone,” featuring games and prizes, temporary tattoos, a coloring book (hand-designed by the Chicago Outfit skaters), face painting and more. Friends and fans can strike a pose in the free photo booth, compliments of 9 Muses Photo. Beer from the Chicago Outfit’s new sponsor, Revolution Brewery, and wine, courtesy of Derby LITE, will be available for purchase. The following vendors will also be on hand: Taquero Fusion, The Vegan Food Truck, BabyCakes Food Truck, Safara Chicago, Nerfect, Pretty Spooky Handmade, Annie Boyer, Jadarie Handmade, and more.

ABOUT THE CHICAGO OUTFIT:
Founded in the fall of 2007, The Chicago Outfit Roller Derby is an all-female, Division One, Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) member league in the city of Chicago. As a democratic, not-for-profit organization, run by the skaters for the skaters, The Chicago Outfit is dedicated to creating a positive female community while contributing charitably to other nonprofit organizations. As a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, The Chicago Outfit’s mission is to represent the athleticism of roller derby nationwide with class, sass, and dignity.
The Chicago Outfit is comprised of three separate travel teams. The Syndicate is the Chicago Outfit's top-tier team, and represents the league in WFTDA-sanctioned bouts and rankings. The Shade Brigade competes against lower-tier travel teams of other WFTDA leagues, as well as against newer and smaller non-WFTDA teams. The Shakedown is The Outfit’s entry-level team and represents the influx of new skaters currently training and competing with The Outfit.
