What's In My (Derby) Bag: Bettie Slay
Photos by Bettie Slay
Welcome to another edition of What's In My (Derby) Bag! I don't know about you, but I'm always interested in what people carry around with them. Looking in someone's bag is kind of like getting a peek into who they are as a person.
Today's guest is none other than me, skater and blog manager, Bettie Slay. You can tell I'm a huge fan of leopard print by looking at my gear bag (an old suitcase) and skate noose.
What do you use most?
BS: Probably my gear spray. I spray my pads after every practice and it's in my favorite scent -- lemongrass.
What's the strangest thing in your bag?
BS: I don't really have anything strange but if I had to pick one, I'd say the baby wipes. It's convenient for after a game so I don't smell like poop at the after party.
Name something in your bag that's not derby-related.
BS: I guess something close to not derby-related is the Tiger Balm. It's the hot version and I use it for menstrual cramps. I have one in my derby bag, one in my purse, and one on my nightstand.
What's been in there the longest?
BS: Probably the skate tools and a set of wheels (not pictured) that came with my first pair of skates.
What's the weirdest thing that's every been in there?
BS: I used to carry around a change of underwear in my bag.
What's one thing in your bag that you can NOT live without?
BS: I have an essential oil blend for anxiety relief that I need for scrimmage.
